please help! a 120-foot-long rope is cut into 3 pieces. The first piece of rope is twice as long as the second piece of rope. The third piece of rope is three times as long as the second piece of rope. what is the length of the longest piece of rope?

OpenStudy (chrisplusian):

so then label the first length as x the second part would then be 2x and the third part would be 3times 2x or 6x. and that all equals 120 feet. x+2x+6x=120 ft. that is9x=120 ft, or 120/9=x
