(x^2/36) + (y^2/64) = 1 what is the length of the major axis? Length of the minor axis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Major = 16 Minor= 12 They give me the answers, but how do i get the answers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a = 2* sqrt(64)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I mean major = 2a = 2 * sqrt (64)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so whatever the major axis is you square it then times by 2? So its 64, SR of 64=8 8*2=16 Correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Based on the formula, which one greater => major (a axis)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh ok. So if it asked for the coordinates of the vertices what would the answer be?
