if the first digit of a 3 digit number cannot be 0, how many 3 digit numbers are possible?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

There are 9 digits to choose from for the first digit, 10 to choose from for the second, and 10 for the third. So there are 9*10*10 = 900 possible 3 digit numbers.
