fragmentation involves the breaking a part of the parent plant or any other organism and the fragment give rise to a new plant or organism with a genome exactly identical to its parent and this is a from of vegetative reproduction and is different from fertilization in the fact that it only involves one parent fertilization involves both male and female organisms their gametes fuse and give rise to anew organism genetic variability is produced and two parental organisms are required
