it passes through G1 growth1 phase where cell increases in size and accumulates material
during  s phase the cell synthesises a replica of it DNA  
during G2 phase the cell synthesises the necessary proteins required for the mitotic phase  including tubulin and other proteins for  the mitotic apparatus
