Karen is using an indirect method to prove that segment DE is not parallel to segment BC in the triangle ABC shown. She starts with the assumption that segment DE is parallel to segment BC. Which inequality will she use to contradict the assumption? 6:2 ≠ 7:10 6:8 ≠ 7:10 6:7 ≠ 2:7 6:2 ≠ 3:2

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

if DE is parallel to BC then triangles ABC and ADE are similar and corresponding sides will be in same ratio ie AE: AC will be equal to AD: AB this should help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whoa ok thanks :)

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

your welcome

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait would it be the last one then ????

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

no: AD = 6 and AB = 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

so is it the second one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

right

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

so - you see the inner and outer triangles cannot be similar because the sides are not in same ratio

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i do

2nd one is 100% correct c:
