Well sin is a repeating function that goes from y=-1 to y=1 so if the 2 is on inside it could not be affecting the amplitude because for any value of x sinx is restricted to 1 to -1 now if the 2 was in front of the sine then it would change the amplitude. If it isn't the amplitude what do you think it might be? If you need another hit let me know.
