Find the total area for the regular pyramid. https://media.glynlyon.com/a_matgeo_2011/7/groupi74.gif HELP!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

DID THEY explain the question to you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do i go to a question to see the explanation???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YAY!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol what? did u pass the lesson??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no-hhah- i'm in the process. Alrighty. so they ask for the total are right? and total area is the area of the base plus the lateral area right? SO B+LA=TA right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mhm....go on....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the area of the base is 4, and the lateral area is--- wait you have to find the slant height first. so pythagorean theorem: 4 squared + 3 squared= 13 squared so the slant height is the square root of 13 YAY! got it so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

woops. i meant 2 squared not 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh yeahh! yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, then you have the slant height and you multiply it times the side soooo 2sqrt13 then you have to mulitply it 4 times because there are 4 sides 4 sqrt 13 okay so theres the Lateral area good so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeahhh kinda yupp

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THEN you plug it all in b+la=ta 4+4sqrt13 and there you are:D but the teacher hates me and keeps saying it's wrong. so. i dont know.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmmm..........

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait. wait wait wait. i messed up. i understand now. its not sqrt 13 it's sqrt of 10. that was the first thing i turned into him and he said it was wrong. oh my gersh. so its 4+4 sqrt of 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

waait why the sqrt of 10???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol ok i got it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2squared plus 3squared

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because. remember the pythagorean theorem part? i said this: 4 squared + 3 squared= 13 squared and it was supposed to be this: 1squared + 3 squared. which would be 1+9 which = 10 squared

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sqrt of ten. there you are:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:ohh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you rock my socks!! lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:') thank you thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

denada denada

OpenStudy (anonymous):

aw man.. icant give myself a medal D:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sucks doesnt it. but i can give you one. merry christmas:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:O *yay jump*
