2 cm:5 km::x cm:15.75 km
Remember the product of the means is equal to the product of the extremes.
take a refractive scale here it is 2cm/5km=1/25000 ie 1 cm on map is 25000 cm in real world taking that into consideration 15.75km is 157500x 1/25000=answer
5km x = 2 cm * 15.75 km x=(2 * 15.75)/5 x= 6.3 cm This is using proportion as required by the problem.
