What is the reason the Berlin wall was built, Why was it knocked down, and how did it lead to Germany being reunified??
Okay to was made to keep the communist ussr to separate from the western area of Berlin
hope that helps :)
People kept defecting to the West and it was a major problem for East Berlin. So, to literally keep their people in, the Berlin Wall was built to contain their side of the city. It became a symbol of the Iron Curtain and the division between democratic freedom and communist control. It finally fell in '89 when authorities allowed citizens the freedom to travel to the West and eventually, due to reforms elsewhere in Eastern Europe and the gradual erosion of communist control (not the least of which was the collapse of the USSR), Germany eventually followed through with reunification (the Wall was physically torn town in the following years after '89). It was a domino effect that couldn't be stopped.
