Why is crude oil non-renewable?
do u know how crude oil is formed?
Yep
Is it considered non-renewable because it takes millions of years to form?
yes u are right :)
Thank you! :)
yw :)
Heena is pretty much right. Just to clarify, crude oil a non-renewable energy source because the energy in it is chemical. Each molecule of oil is a hydrocarbon - a long chain of carbon atoms bonded to each other and to hydrogens to fill their empty valence shells. Each bond is stored energy. When all those chemical bonds between the carbons are broken, the energy is released and used to power an engine or whatever. Oil is non-renewable because once all the bonds are broken, there are no more bonds to break and no more energy to release. That is opposed to something like wind, for example, which turns a turbine. More wind just comes along an turns the turbine some more.
It is non renewable because oil is no longer being formed
i didnt know that thnx blues :)
Thank you :)
