Is there any way to (on excel or a similar freely downloadable program) to make a random word selector from a list of words?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well OpenOffice at openoffice.org has a "free" version of a product similar to Microsoft office that includes and excel like program called calc

Yes there is, in excel you want to use the function RANDBETWEEN. If you put a list of words in column A for example, you would simply place the following in the cell you want your random word to appear in: =INDEX($A:$A,RANDBETWEEN(1,COUNTA($A:$A)),1)

I'm having problems with this- inserting A1 for the 1st and 3rd $A and A18 for the 2nd and 4th $A, an error comes up.
