wat is the function of plasma membrane
ok tell me wat u knw abu plasma membrane i mean anything wat u knw abu it just say
the basic function of plasma membrane is to control the movement in and out of the cell Functions The cell membrane performs a number of specific activities that are essential for the nourishment and life of the cell. One of its most important functions is to act as a barrier for the cell, keeping its inside separated from the outside. Forming the outer boundary of the cell, it prevents certain materials from entering or leaving the cell. It also holds the cell together. The cell membrane is the organelle responsible for the regulation of homeostasis. Fluid Mosaic Model The fluid mosaic model is a currently accepted theory about the cell membrane. It states that the cell membrane is comprised of a double layer of oily substances called lipids, or more precisely called phospholipids. These phospholipids are believed to have two opposite characteristics--being hydrophilic or water-loving at their phosphate ends and at the same time being hydrophobic at their lipid tails. According to this theory, when the phospholipids are exposed to the water, either they act as channels, or transporters, of substances across the membrane or they act as receptors.
