Which of the following is the vertex of the quadratic equation y = 6x2 – 24x + 32? (–2, –8) (2, –8) (2, 8) (–2, 8)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a=6 b=-24 c=32. to find vertex, you do -b/2a. so (-)(-24)/2(6) so, it would be 24/12, which is 6. then you have to plug that in to find..i think? lol i'm wrong, sorry

OpenStudy (zepp):

Yes, to find the x value of the vetex, use -b/2a, but @hiimchristina it's would be 24/12 = 2, not 6 Then plug two in you equation and solve for y, and you'll find the corresponding value of y for that x (2).

hold up.....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you @zepp

OpenStudy (anonymous):

omfg, i made a stupid mistake. lol i know it's 2. i was looking at it too quick.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's (2,8) look at this.....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=+vertex+of+y+%3D+6x2+ –+24x+%2B+32

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so, it would be 2. then you plug it in 6{2}^2 - 24(2) + 32

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

could you guys help me with this one http://openstudy.com/study?login#/updates/4faaee15e4b059b524f6bdfe
