Statics question: Trusses

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Problem 6-48. I can't figure out how the moment about point E was calculated. This is for "method of sections." I know there's solutions manuals out there for doing this, but I can't see how they got their answer. I am wondering if someone can try to solve 6-48 without looking at the answer?

the solution will be pretty long lol

That's okay, I figured it out. My dad (who got his engineering degree a long looong time ago) verified with me that there was a cosine instead of sine in the solution. And they got a length wrong for one of the moments. This is method of sections, so it's not as long of a process as using method of joints :-)
