Well, that depends on the REST of your paper. A thesis is the answer to the main question you are asking.
For example: A paper about smoking might ask the question "What are the dangers of cigarette smoking?" The thesis might be "Smoking cigarettes can cause major heath issues, such as asthma, emphysema, and even death."

as peeps said it depends on the topic really. abortion is a really broad heading there are tons of things you could write about on abortion its best to narrow it down a bit to say maybe the effects of abortion on society e.t.c. its your choice. then after you have figured that part out you basically just need to let your imagination go and then ideas will just start come but make sure u write down these ideas b4 they go away again.

as she said a thesis is just answering the question so you answer what they ask you about abortion. get three points on the topic. your thesis will incude these three responses or answer to the question.. this will give the reader an idea what the essay will be about and what about abortion they will be getting info. about.
