Intellectuals rejected the status quo and many of them moved abroad.  Hemingway wrote a book about this.  Civil rights activists started in the 50's.  It took years of agitation to get the civil rights act of 1964 passed.  So the answer is b and c.  The Youth didn't really reject the status quo until the sixties.
