simile is when you make a comparison between two things using as or like. metaphor is the same thing only thing you use the word "is" its like your making a statement really e.g. "she is a pearl." is a metaphor the dictionary meaning of paradox is stated below. 1. something absurd or contradictory: a statement, proposition, or situation that seems to be absurd or contradictory, but in fact is or may be true. so this must definitely answer your question.
