Which of the following equations is equivalent to y = 2/3 x + 1/4? y = 8x + 3 12y = 2x + 1 12y = 8x + 3

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

take LCM on RHS and cross multiply

?

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

taking LCM on RHS,,we have y = (8x + 3)/12 now cross multiplying,,we get 12y=8x +3 ..which is the answer..

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

leme tell you a shortcut here..from the given original equation,,for some random x,,calculate y..and try and match it up with the options.. e.g. from eqn,,at x=0,y=1/4.. now from the given options,,only last one satisfies this.. Note: this wont work everytime,,sometimes the examiners are way to smart.. ;)
