How would I convert the decimal to a fraction 0.75

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

how many digits do you have to the left of the decimal?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the first column after the decimal place is called tenths, hundredths, thousandths, millionths and so on. 0.75 is called 75 hundredths so it will be written as a fraction at 75 will go on top and the bottom will be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1000

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope close, try again. "hundredths" not "thousandths" remember

OpenStudy (anonymous):

75/100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep, now simplify.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay I'm lost and this really sucks.... When I simplify I have to find a commn number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok the simple method for simplifying is to look at both numbers obviously and find the highest common factor. Just by looking I can see 25 is the highest one because 75/25=3 and 100/25=4. You should be able to figure it out from there.

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

start with prime numbers like 2, 3, 5, 7, 11,.... just keep on trying
