All arithmetic sequences have a common difference. So, 0, t2, t3, t4, 16 is the sequence. We can see that the mean of the sequence is t3 as the common differences are equal. So, t3 = 8 We now see that the common difference is 4, so t2 = 0 + 4 = 4
thanks :) i have one last qeustion: Find the three arithmetic means between -2 and 10.
You mean the three terms in the arithmetic sequence?
-2, t2, t3, t4, 10 is the sequence. Mean of 10 and -2 is t3 which is 4. -2, t2, 4, t4, 10 The common difference is 3. So, the three numbers are: 1, 4, 7
