I am trying to fine a definitive answer to the question of whether or not it is correct to use a comma before the word "because." Here is an example: Hypoglycemia and the fear of hypoglycemia are limiting factors to achieving glycemic control, because the negative physiological, social, and psychological consequences of hypoglycemia prevents physicians and patients from increasing the dose of insulin.
