Thanks for the list. I'm curious what do you mean by "4. when i open something new here ,like a question , i get some text without any graphics and then the originall qn"?
ya u see i just opened my friends profile before i gt to it i was shown some text message without any graphics like u r opening a new qn are sure stng
*are u sure
Could you provide me with a screen shot?
lemme try
@farmdawgnation i took the screenshot i dont knw hw to post
Use the attach file button below the reply box.
actually i pressed print screen button i dont knw hw to get that picture
Open Microsoft Word and press CRTL+V then save the file and upload it.
this was shown when i opened my own profile
I don't see a bug here. I just see part of the group page. Also, it was brought to my attention we should probably start using MS Paint. Not Word.
Can you try recreating the screenshot in MS Paint?
A page like this one attached? I run into this page for a split second before it loads the actual page, although I'm not sure if this is what you're referring to.
howd you get that o.O it only loads like 2 seconds for me...barely enough time to press printscreen
I was prepared. I had the right-click menu for "Open link in new tab" ready, and the ctrl+tab and print screen fingers ready. :P
and @AravindG "aw snap" happens only in chrme i think it's their problem :)) lol @AccessDenied =))))
It took two tries to catch it, but yeah. lol Yeah, that's what I believe as well. It's always annoying to be in a question typing a reply and then the page just turns into "Aw Snap!" and my answer is erased. ;[
sometimes it aw snaps after you press post..luckily SOMETIMES it still gets sent :D
@farmdawgnation the pic that @AccessDenied posted is the bug i am talking of ,ok @lgbasallote
but why only in openstudy .com google chrome has got aw snap ..all other sites its ok @lgbasallote
chrome bug... and that thing you're seeing is what them people call "marker" i think you're familiar with them...kinda like when chris and shadowfiend's pics pop out instead of the avatar pics of users..you've seen those right?
ya a sometimes i see wierd wierd messages like shadow field saying" i am massause or stng
those are markers for messages lol marker for notifs is "sandra reported darthsid. something about sailboats" marker for asker and chat pics is shadowfiiend's face marker for answerer pic and users pic n the front page is chris marker for profile is chris's fake profile i have yet to discover the marker for question...any spoilers @farmdawgnation ? :)
why are there markers?
@lgbasallote
well when you make a website or something you have to give it a touch of "reality" you know what i mean? they have to put "something" so the website will work. those "something" became markers
oh bt cant they remove it? i hav not seen any markers in other sites
i think if they remove it it wont function well :P and you only think other sites dont have markers but they do...like i said..it's the touch of life
bt in other sites the users dont see these markers,i have been noticing these makers only recently
those markers have been here from the start impossible you just saw them recently...other sites just load very fast that the markers dont appear anymore...ours is still kind of uhmm
oh thats the prob cnt they make it faster after 2 years of establishment?
lol they're trying :p
the markers arent really bothersome so i dont think it should be prioritized
So, the correct word for the "markers" are templates. And no, they haven't been here since the start. They were introduced in October. Essentially the way it works is we use a library called Knockout to populate the interface. It saves us a TON of time in making the interface work. So, what happens is your computer downloads the raw template and then is sent a series of instructions from the OpenStudy server on how to change that to match the current state of the database. Sometimes a delay in that communication or errors occurring on the page will cause the raw template to seep through. Now, @AravindG - in relation to the bug you're talking about on page load - that's a styling issue. It's not a bug, it's just a delay in your computer's ability to process how we've styled our site. We're going to implement some code to hide that until it is done rendering. In regard to the Aww Snap pages, that is most definitely a bug in Chrome, and they are aware of it.
oh darn i gotta stop giving these false info *facepalm*
why am i even a computer engineer -_-
Haha. Well the mechanics of what you describe weren't that far off.
well your def sounds a LOT more tech-y =))
thanks
