Which best explains why viruses are not classified by Linnaean taxonomy?

Linnaean taxonomy is used to classify and organize living organisms in biology. Viruses however, strictly speaking are not considered to be living organisms. Since they do not display some of the major characteristics in living organisms. They require living organisms such as cell hosts to reproduce and divide. Some of these traits are: metabolism, response to stimuli, ability to reproduce, motility, homoeostasis etc.
