for me, i'll use calculator as i can't do hand calculation for log but i can simplify the equation before using calculator.
\[\log_{2} 30=\log_{10}30 \div \log_{10}2 \]

yup. He has to simplify the equation in order to show to his teacher that he knows the steps of getting right answer.

Hehe, technology isn't too advance during my old school days so the only way to survive is by asking friends, teachers or do more question. But the best way to learn is to make mistake (but please don't do it during the finals).
