3(4-y)=5(y+2)

are you trying to solve this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first you distribute( which means multiply the 3 with the 4 and the negative y in the parenthesis and you multiply the 5 times the y and the 2 in the parenthesis) so you get: 12-3y =5y+10 Next you combine the LIKE TERMS like the ones with the ys go together and the regular integers go together, and you get this: -8y=-2 this is because when you move over the equal sign the numbers change their sign. and then you divide both sides by -8 so you get y=2/8 which also equals 1/4 of you divide the top and bottom my 2 y=2/8

*by not my HAHA
