OpenStudy (anonymous):
The Morrill Land Grant Act established colleges with federal monies. The purpose was to promote agricultural and mechanical educations. Many schools with A&M in their names were established under this act. Texas A&M, Florida A&M, Michigan State, and Penn State are some of the most well known.
