P(x)= 7x^3+12x^2-11x+2 I understand everything about this problem except for what to do about the leading coefficient of (7)x^3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you want done with this polynomial?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh sorry haha a)list all possible rational zeros of P(x) based on the rational zeros theorem b) find all real zeros of P(x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know that 2 has +/- 1,2 as roots and 7 has +/1 1,7 roots but I dont know how to set up the equation with a coefficient other than 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you'll also have to consider plus/minus 2/7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay well normally I would set up the equation with syntetic division, now should i consider 2/7 in my synthetic division equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just need help setting up the synthetic division equation and then im good

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f(2/7) = 0 - i just tried it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so (7x - 2) is a factor divide this in to f(x) using long or synthetic division to get a quadratic

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm okay but I dont understand the (7x-2) where does that come from?
