a triangle has sides with x feet, 2x + 1 feet. if the perimeter is 126 feet, how long is each side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am confused with "a triangle has sides with x feet, 2x+1" could you please clarify that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is the way it's written in my homework :/ I don't understand it either...

I will assume then that 2x+1 is the length of each side and that the type of triangle is regular. so all sides are the same. Is that kind of what you are going over at the moment?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alrighty then, if the perimeter of the triangle is 126 it means that when we add up all the sides which each is equal to 2x+1 they will add up to 126 so (2x+1)+(2x+1)+(2x+1)=126 also if you notice the term 2x+1 is the same in those three.. which is equal to 3(2x+1)=126

OpenStudy (anonymous):

could you take it from there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yepp thank you very much :D

no problemo :)
