OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

A trough full of water is 12ft long & its cross section is in the shape of an isosceles trapezoid 1 ft high; 2 ft wide at the bottom and 3 ft wide at the top. Find the work done in pumping the water to a point 2 ft above the top of the trough. can someone show me how to solve this via integral calculus?

OpenStudy (experimentx):

can you draw figure??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

figure????

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

well it's just a word problem..no figures included...but i do know how a trough looks like |dw:1336728140825:dw|

OpenStudy (experimentx):

"isosceles trapezoid 1 ft high; 2 ft wide at the bottom and 3 ft wide at the top." <--- seems like a triangle, workdone = \( \int \vec F. \vec {dr} \)

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

uh-huh...
