write the expression in the simplest form -21x^5y^3/28xy^5

OpenStudy (auctoratrox):

-3x^4 / 4y^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

could you explain how to do it? I want to try to do the other problems like this?

OpenStudy (auctoratrox):

sure, if the same factor occurs on the numerator and the denominator, it can be cancelled out.

OpenStudy (auctoratrox):

so two y's are left in the denominator and 4 x's are left in the numerator. the constants reduce down to -3/4.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so on the exponents, you subtracted or cancelled out to get the lower number correct?

OpenStudy (auctoratrox):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok TY so much, I am going to try these other ones then post what I got and someone can check it for me if they will :)
