Round each decimal to the nearest whole number and then compute the sum. 88.459 + 12.811 = A. 100 B. 101 C. 105 D. 102

OpenStudy (lasttccasey):

\[88 + 13 = 101\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just add them 88.459 + 12.811 but to the nearest hole number. Do you know what the hole number is?

OpenStudy (lasttccasey):

Rounding should be done at the end generally, in this case it won't matter because its only two numbers but if you add them, 88.459 + 12.811 you get 101.27 If the decimal after 101 is less than .5, that is .0-.4, you round down. If it is over .5 then you round up to the next whole number. In this case .27 is less than .5 so we stay with the whole number of 101 and drop the .27

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[88.459+12.811 =?????? okay so, just solve the problem than round \to the nearest whole number add thows than the hole number is 101\]
