Ethos is credibility. You want your readers to actually BELIEVE that what you're telling them is true. For example, if I say "Apples are better for you than oranges," would you believe me? Probably not. Why should you? Who am I? BUT, if I said "According to Dr. so-and-so, a nutritionist from the University of such-and-such, apples are better for us than oranges," you are more likely to believe it. A doctor is far more credible than you are. Do you see what I am getting at?

A way for YOU to sound credible is to talk about an experience you have gone through, personally. If it happened to YOU, the readers are likely to find you credible. If you are talking about cancer, for example, and your mother is a breast cancer survivor, your statements will seem credible to them. Hope I helped!
