equation in attatchment

OpenStudy (atlas):

Solve the numerator and denominator separately. The numerator again has a denominator in one of the terms :( So take LCM, simplify things and reduce it to the simplest possible term. Go about in the same fashion with the denominator. Finally divide and get the final answer. And tell me the answer when you get it :)

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

in the numerator rewrite 3 as \[3\times \frac{x-y}{x-y} = \frac{3x - 3y}{x-y}\]

i will try

@campbell_st How did you put the division sign in your equation

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

then in the numerator you have \[\frac{3x + y}{x-y} - \frac{(3x -3y)}{x-y}\] which you will need to simplify... the same method can be made to simplify the denominator

ok
