Simplify (x + 6y) - (3x − 10y). If the final answer is written in the form Ax + By, what is the value of A?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Basically, combine like terms again. As @lgbasallote stated earlier, we must distribute the -1 so we get 6y+10y-x-3x so its gonna be 16y-2x or -2x+16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x + 6y -3x +10y -2x + 16y Im learning from @lgbasallote as well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you just have to remember to always look at common terms so just x with x and y with y u will get -2x+16y A=-2 :)

Teamwork :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

exactly:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so wait.. why would it be -x and why would it be -3x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You are distributing the - sign to the (3x − 10y) So its like saying your distributing -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh alright alright. thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No prob I'm just staring to understand this as well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol thank you guys very much

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):
