A block of agar changes colour from red to orange when placed in a solution. Design an experiment to investigate the effect of temperature on the time taken for the block of agar to change colour when placed in the solution. Will somebody just tell me how to vary the temperature? I mean should I heat test tubes directly or should a water bath be used?
Take a group of block of agar with the same size and the same shape. Add them into a solution containing the same concentration and the volume into a test yube. Keep the test tubes in a water bath, with a thermometer dipped in the water bath. First maintain a low temperature. And measure the time taken for the Red to turn to Orange. Replicate the results at that temperature, get the reading Then increase the temperature and make it constant..And replicate. Do this To show the effect of temperature on the colour change
