I have a book that has cited a quote from another book that is quite rare. I am using his quote. Do i reference the orginal author and or the author of the book i got it from? MLA referencing! pleeease help

the original author.. because you do not know the page of the book of the other author :)

Exactly thats why i got confused! so can i mention the author that actually said the quote but reference where i got it from

so for example, according to James Sawtell in his book History of cats " quote quote" (reference the book i got it from mary sameuls)
