Triangle ABC~Triangle EFG, angle C=4x+30, and angle G=5x+10. Determine the value of X?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im not sure how to start this

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

If \(\triangle ABC \sim \triangle EFG\), then what is true about the angles at the corresponding vertices?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They are congruent?

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

That is correct. So, since \(\angle C\) and \(\angle G\) are corresponding angles, we can just use the fact that they are congruent to set up the equality. \(m \angle C = m \angle G\) Substitute the known information and solve. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Awsome! You are a great teacher :D

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

Thanks! :D So, what do you get as the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

X=20

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

Yeah, that is correct. Just making sure there were no weird errors and we got the same result. :P
