an insulated copper rod has a mass of 0.3 kg. if each copper atom can contribute only one valence electron, what fraction of its atoms lost their valence electrons?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well copper has only 1 valence electron so all of them lost thier electron. So answer is 1 IDK tho lol not sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

LOL what was the answer look in back of book :) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Copper is a metal and linked by metallic bonds and "free electron theory holds good". The valence electrons of all copper atoms are detached from thy atoms and are free to move in the sea in which the copper ions are frozen.
