The cause of the Russian Revolution of 1917 was that the Czar, or emperor, Nicholas II was using all the money and treating the people unfairly.there were shortages of food and the "commoners" , or peasants and poor people, were the ones revolting because of this.

The only two factors that didn't really figure into the Russian Revolution were the military support for Nicholas II. He actually lost the support of the military due to his terrible leadership during World War I and because of the demonstrations in St. Petersburg (or Petrograd as it was known). His abdication of the throne occurred as a result of the February revolution, though there would be another later that year.
