I know this is stupid but.. Val owns a hardware store. The floor plan drawn on the coordinate grid has five different sections. -------------------------- Val calculates the ratio of length and width of each section drawn on the grid and concludes that two sections are similar. Which two sections appear as similar geometric figures on the grid?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think L and K

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The multiple choice shows a couple that seem similar to me but i'd rather have a second opinion with you guys

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well similar in this case means a shape that is a scalar multiple of another which basically means if you multiply or divide a shape by a scalar number then that will result in a exact shape of another. Take the F shape it's 5 blocks on one side and 1 on the other if we double the shape ( which means multiply by 2 each side) we get a shape that is 10 blocks on one side and 2 on the other side.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Basically they are asking which shape if you multiply it by a number will give you another shape that is already on the grid.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So with that said, my next question involves something saying the new shape will be "2:1" what does that mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that im shrinking the new figure by half

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah but looking at it I can tell it's not going to be as easy as doubling a shape or halfing one.
