In the human stomach, chemical reactions take place in an acidic environment. Some of these reactions are catalyzed by enzymes. How would these enzymes most likely function in an environment where the pH was doubled?

Reworded (which may help you!): If enzymes are proteins, folded in a very specific way, that folding would be dependent on interactions between the different areas of the folded protein and the substrate and the catalyst, do you think changing the availability of H+ ions in the environment would change the ability of enzymes to function?
