Find an equation of the tangent line to the curve at the given point. y=(2x+1)/(x+2) P(1,1)

OpenStudy (turingtest):

first you need the slope at that point, which is the derivative at that point what have you got for dy/dx ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would i have to find (2x+1)' = 2 and (x+2)'= 1 so would the slope be 2/1 or 2?

OpenStudy (turingtest):

no you need to use either the quotient rule, or product rule+chain rule to do this

OpenStudy (turingtest):

quotient rule:\[y=\frac uv\implies\frac{u'v-v'u}{v^2}\]
