Solve for x, y and z. x^2 + y^2 = z^2 xz = y^2 x + y + z = 10 (x, y and z are all positive, real numbers)

OpenStudy (precal):

what level of math is this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's systems of equations so possibly algebra 2, but the guy said it's one that lots of math grads struggle with, so i was interested in the solution. Any idea where to start?

OpenStudy (precal):

I think it is going to be one of those cases where you have to make some kind of statement, perhaps if x=y, I would suggest graphing each one by itself and see if you can overlay the graphs to see if there is a point of intersection.
