So I understand the tasks of each with the exception of 3. Device management. It just runs all the periphels?

1.. manages currently open applications. It allocates memories(RAM) to each of the currently open applications & prevent them running out of memory.
2..switches in between program, job & process on the disk.
3..manages the input/output devices.
4..control access to files & supervises the creation, deletion and modification of files.
