solve √(x+14)-12=x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got -13 and -10 but could anyone make sure that's right?

Parth (parthkohli):

1) Add 12 to both sides. 2) Square both sides. 3) Solve for x.

Parth (parthkohli):

\(\Large \color{purple}{\rightarrow \sqrt{x + 14} = x + 12 }\) \(\Large \color{purple}{\rightarrow x + 14 = (x + 12)^2 }\) \(\Large \color{purple}{\rightarrow x + 14 = x^2 + 144 + 24x }\)

Parth (parthkohli):

It is a quadratic equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):
