How do you find the lateral area of a pentagonal pyramid?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The formula is: 1/2 × Perimeter × Base Length. This is because the sides are always triangles and the triangle formula is bh/ 2. for example:Base edge= 1.5 and the Slant height= 9 The perimeter is 1.5 × 2 (because 1.5 is only 1/2 of the baselength) X 4 (the number of sides) = 12. The final answer is 1/2 × 3 × 12 = 18 units.
