At what rate is the universe expanding NOW?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For example, if we use 1pm units, what does 1000(1pm)kms expand to by 1am the next day (I suppose conversely you could put two objects in space 1km away and in 12 hours measure what the ruler will say (as the ruler is attracted to itself, so will 'snap back' to the 'old' length), and from this change in 'absolute' distance (I suppose to be pedantic you could measure it against the 'size' of a hydrogen atom) after 12 hours, and with some division you could get the 1pm length in 1am units)?

A very good and debatable question. I think you have to read this :) http://skyserver.sdss.org/dr1/en/astro/universe/universe.asp

Yes, I've always found it fascinating that Euclidean geometry may not describe the universe.
