What is the area of the shaded region of this circle? http://i.imgur.com/x0wtH.png

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Area(sector) - A(triangle) Area(sector) = (1/2)pi*12^2 Area(triangle) = (1/2)12^2*sin(60)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops... i gave you the area of the unshaded...

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

area of sector = 60/ 360 * pi r^2 = 1/6 * pi * 12^2 = 24pi area of triangle = 1/2 * 12^2 sin 60 = 72 sin 60 = 36qrt3 so the area of white segment = 24pi - 36sqrt3 take this from area of the whole cicle gives you area of shaded part = pi 12^2- 24pi - 36sqrt3 = 120pi - 36sqrt3 = 377 - 62.35 = 314.65

answer to question = Area(circle) - [answer from first post] Area(circle) = pi*12^2

ummm yea..
