In a kitchen there are four containers that can hold different quantities of water, -(the smallest container is equal to x, the second is x + 0.5 the third is x + 1 and the fourth is x + 1.5 liters) How many liters of water can the four containers hold in all? How many liters of water can the four containers hold in all?

Add all of those quantities together: the amount in the 1st+the amount in the 2nd+the amount in the 3rd+the amount in the 4th. Combine like terms: combine all the x terms and all the constant terms.

So would the answer be 4x + 3?
